Marine Energy Structures, Materials, and Foundation Systems
Stony Brook University
Stony Brook, NY
June 22 to 26, 2026
Course Overview
This 5-day intensive short course provides PhD students, practicing engineers, and early-career researchers with a comprehensive introduction to the engineering principles behind marine energy systems. This course will cover three main topics: structure, material, and foundations. Delivered in focused 45-minute modules, the course explores the design and analysis of marine energy-related structures, advanced materials for offshore environments, geotechnical considerations for seabed foundations, and the mechanics of mooring and station-keeping systems. The short course is intended to provide participants from across the country with foundational knowledge, current research insights, and practical perspectives essential for tackling challenges in marine renewable energy development.
Course instructors include AMEC-affiliated faculty and researchers from North Carolina A&T State University, Stony Brook University, Rutgers University, University of New Hampshire, and Lehigh University.
